This book is intended to be a combination text and source book in special education. As such, it treats the behavior of exceptional children and describes approaches to evaluation and descniption. The position is held that the consequences of evaluation should be educational planning and training. These functions are all included in the concept of method as utilized in this series of contributed papers. In short, method refers to the combination of theoretical and empirical functions which may contribute to the child’s education.
Since we are planning for exceptional children, the approaches may vary somewhat from those employed in standard educational practice, Nevertheless, the attention to behavior and its modification may presage approaches to training which would apply to the education of all children,
