Sulawesi: Ujung Pandang to kendari
This book could not have been written without the help of the Indonesian government and the cooperation and kindness of many people. The provincial governments of North, South, Central and Southeast Sulawesi have graciously provided accommodation or transportation or guides: in some cases, all three. This was very helpful and helped us concentrate on gathering information for books rather than having to make time-consuming logistical arrangements. Our thanks to many people. First, His Excellency Mr. S. Wiryono, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra, Australia, who is very enthusiastic about this project and has kindly written a Foreword. Dr. Aria Djalil, Education and Cultural Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in contact on our behalf with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Tourism, Forestry, Post and Telecommunications, which includes National Parks; and Education and Culture in Sulawesi. Drs. Wahdi S.A. Yudhi, Assistant Education and Culture Attache, kept the dialogue active as long as Dr. Aria was not available to contact the Provincial Government with our requests and suggestions and Ms Jennifer Lombardo translated correspondence and permission.
